Introducing Eric Malz, PhD, ND, MSN, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
This blog will be utilized to help foster understanding of psychiatry. Having worked in and around psychiatry for 30 years, I have developed methods that successfully helped my clients to be healthier, both mentally and physically.
I have received credentialing in the following areas:
· I have include a PhD in Natural Health counseling,
· accreditation as an alcohol and drug abuse counselor.
· Training in auricular acupuncture and
· training in health and hospital administration, as well as being a
· registered nurse and
· board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner.
I give this background to offer credibility to my words, since those reading this material don’t know me from Adam, I want to assure you, the reader, that I will only offer suggestions or give impressions of my experiences that can be utilized by the reader for self healing or to give a positive direction to their life.
If you have a question about natural healthy living, please contact me and I will attempt to answer
The first item I want to share is how to help feel healthy.
Get good rest and eat whole, healthful foods, and get exercise.
These are probably the most important bits of advice anyone will ever give you, Why?
I have had patients come to the psychiatric emergency room who don’t know what day it is and say they are hearing and seeing things. When I perform my inquiries, the first thing I ask is, “How much sleep did you get last night”. I have had clients say that they were so upset about an issue that they haven’t slept in days. Well, I will tell you right here and now, if you don’t sleep you will appear to others as if you have psychiatric illness. You will appear to be intoxicated, you may, as one person did, end up coming to the hospital. So please, if you can’t sleep, ask for help. I’m not saying that a home type remedy like drinking or taking a pill is the answer. However, a relaxing shower, warm milk or just clearing your mind by thinking about a place that you enjoyed, could help you fall asleep.I will address other topics in the future. REMEMBER – GET GOOD REST!!!!
